Is anyone keen on keeping the Agora live? I don’t see much activity in here. Please let me know otherwise we may end up removing it due to a lack of interest.

In the off chance that there are people that only read what is posted in the Agora (and I doubt it, but just in case πŸ˜‰ ), the Spartan Association is now meeting twice a month, the dates are now posted both here on the website and on Facebook. See you all there!

Just received Warlords of Erehwon from Warlord Games in the post. I’m impressed, I will be preparing forces for this game immediately!

Hi all. Id like to thank you all for making me feel welcome as a new player/observer at the October meeting.
I was very interested in some of the historical games in particular and have already ordered a copy of the rulebook for L’Art de Guerre.
Since ill be starting my 15mm collection from scratch i was thinking of going for a Seleucid or Successor Army that could one day be split into two separate Greek and Persian armies in the future. Im not familiar with the models themselves though, does this sound like a viable plan?

I guess it depends on what you are comfortable doing. The Persians and Greeks from the Seleucid period were quite different from that of the Persian Wars period, so if you are OK with fielding a pair of armies made of later period models than that could be OK. If you’re not, then just build one army that you can enjoy playing with over time.

To be honest, I think the best idea is to go with whatever army you want to paint and play with. If you love the history of the army, and are inspired by the look of the troops and their formations, you are on a winner. If you can use the army’s units later on it’s a bonus.

My advice would be to build the Successor army and use it for what it is for now as you are learning the game. If you want other armies later on you are always free to build them. But this is just my humble opinion of course. πŸ˜‰

Thought I’d add a Peacekeeper to my Guild forces for Malifaux after last meeting, using Pete’s Peacekeeper was a blast so here’s mine. Different colour, of course, and still WIP:

And today, wandering about the ‘Riff, I stumbled upon this in one of our amazing local game stores. Thought it might be handy for my orc/goblin ShadowStorm army. I’m sure I can rustle up some goblin crews for these. Thought it was nice an convenient too that there’s exactly one unit’s worth of bolt throwers in one pack (and cheap). πŸ™‚

For anyone wondering what I meant by Shadow Storm in a comment below, it is a fantasy modification to Warlord’s Hail Caesar ancients rules. Big battles, lots of figures. More on their Facebook Group here:

Thanks to everyone who attended the meeting at Kingswood Sports Club today. Despite it being Father’s Day we had a good turnout and much good gaming was had. See you all next time!

Finished and based. The next unit for my Sealion crowd. Be very afraid of this mighty example of British artillery. It could in fact be the reason Hitler went after Russia thus changing the course of the war.

Have a watch of this and see what you think

That photo of yours is rather acrobatic you know. It’s quite clever leaning on its side like that. Perhaps it’s a side effect of being in close proximity to the apocalyptic power of the Northover Projector…
