OK… so it should have been fairly obvious to us that April 1st was both Easter Sunday *and* April Fool’s Day…
…so we moved April’s meeting to the weekend after Easter, on the 8th, a Sunday as usual. We still have the March meeting in between then and now, so some time away yet, but for all you forward planners – we’ve got you covered.
Our February meeting was held last Sunday and, as usual, we had some good gaming and met some new faces. A big welcome to all the new people visiting the club and thanks to the regulars for participating and making the experience so very enjoyable.
This month saw Impetus Basic, Infinity and L’Arte De La Guerre being played at the club. No photos though. 🙁
Our next meeting will be on the 4th of March. See you there!
January’s meeting was a small affair, but nonetheless some new folk attended and had a game, which is great. Three games were had in all and considering we had a minimal turn out (January traditionally being a slow month for any organisation) we can consider that rather successful. Enjoyment was had.
Photos were only taken of the one game this month as the author of this post was a bit slow to remember to take them. By the time I did, they were being packed away! Never mind, next time, next time…
The Age of Sigmar game was part three of three games, same opponents yet again. There was also a game of Infinity and a game of Crossfire. (More on Crossfire soon, stay tuned!)
We here at the Spartan Association hope everyone has had a great Christmas and fantastic New Year.
Are you all ready for a big year in gaming?
Hope to see some of you in January, otherwise keep safe, keep painting and most of all, keep gaming!
Both the January and the February meeting of the Spartan Association have been moved to the second weekend of their respective months, due to bookings of other events at the venue. The Events page has been updated to reflect this. The new dates for the meetings are:
- January 14, 2018
- February 11, 2018
As usual there are more details on the Events page. We will also endeavour to keep the Facebook group as updated as possible.
See you all there!
A huge thank-you to all who attended our second meeting in Kingswood. The room was full of tables with games deployed in all their splendour, and judging from the general discussion everybody had a good time.
It was also good to see a wide selection of games being played. Games from fantasy (Age of Sigmar) to World War 2 (Crossfire) to ancient and mediaeval (L’Art de la Guerre and Impetus) and science fiction (Infinity) were being played.
These images have also been posted on our Facebook group, so some of you may have seen them already…

The Spartan Association welcomes you to our new venue and invites you to continue to attend if you enjoy(ed) the day.
There are no fees currently set for attendance at Association meetings, however we would ask/expect that those of you who attend more than twice take up membership of the Kingswood Sports Club. One year’s membership is only $7 with an instant $5 credit placed on to your membership card, which may be used to purchase drinks or food at the club.
Enjoy your gaming.
Upcoming dates for the next few months:
- January 7th, 2018 (this meeting may be moved or cancelled, to be announced as our space is being used by our hosts)
- February 4th, 2018
- March 4th, 2018
- April 1st, 2018 (again, this may be moved or cancelled, as it is Easter Sunday – and April Fools Day. No really, we will probably move it)
- May 6th, 2018
- June 3rd, 2018
See the Events page for further details.
You may have noticed the site has changed. The initial idea was to provide an option for both Facebook and non-Facebook using members to interact with the club. So we created both a forum and a Facebook group to enable this.
However, the original forum was not very suitable for article publication, and was not well used nor suitable for the size of audience than we would be expecting. Our Facebook group seems to be the focus of conversation for most people so far and we suspect that this will continue to be the case going forward.
To improve our online resources we have created a new site (this one that you are reading) which is designed for publishing articles, with a small forum available which we have called Discussions. It’s still a forum as you’d know it, and can be posted to if you have an account and are logged in. If you are not keen on Facebook you can interact with the club there.
Our plans are to begin publishing both new and old articles relevant to the general miniatures wargaming hobby. More soon.
